Take a Stand Against Florida's Ban on Gay Adoption

The American Civil Liberties Union of Florida, Gay and Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation, Family Equality Council, and SAVE Dade invite you to participate in a free event at the Miami-Dade GLBT Explore Expo that will provide you with the skills and training to take a stand against Florida's ban on gay adoption and support litigation challenging Florida's ban on gay adoption by changing the hearts and minds of your friends, neighbors, and communities.

SAVE Dade will be one of an estimated 350 companies and individuals that will be setting up booths on Saturday, October 3 for Expo Explore, presented by the Miami-Dade Gay and Lesbian Chamber of Commerce at the Miami Beach Convention Center.

See you at the 13th annual National Gay and Lesbian Task Force Recognition Dinner at Fontainebleau Miami Beach on Saturday, October 17

The National Gay and Lesbian Task Force will be hosting its 13th Annual Miami Recognition Dinner at Fontainebleau Miami Beach on Saturday, October 17, 2009. Together with White Party, the Miami Recognition Dinner is one of two major events hosted by the National Gay and Lesbian Task Force each year, and honors community leaders who have made significant contributions to the LGBT community.

Joe Falk, Board Member and Guardian, receives
Prestigious Lewis-Underwood Award from Victory Fund


It gives us great pleasure to honor Board Member and Guardian Joe Falk for receiving the prestigious Lewis-Underwood Award from the Victory Fund. Chuck Wolfe, President and CEO of Victory Fund, personally presented Joe with the award at a special Guardians event hosted by Joe and his partner, Mark Scott.

Columbus Day Weekend 2009:
March for Equality on Washington, DC

Equality Across America is urging every lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) organization, individual and ally to attend the National Equality March on October 10 and 11, 2009 in Washington, DC.

While Congress currently debates over the largest number of pro-LGBT legislation ever proposed, thousands will gather on the West Lawn of the Capitol Building to demand one thing: equal protection in all matters governed by civil law in all 50 states.

 


VOLUNTEER SPOTLIGHT
 

Shining on Lydia Lopez

Our Spotlight this month shines down on the invaluable volunteer work of Lydia Lopez and her unyielding efforts in the fight for LGBT equality and community betterment. Lydia first volunteered with SAVE Dade during last year's No On 2 Campaign, where she participated in phone banks and persuaded voters on election day to vote against Amendment 2.
