The Cereal Bowl supports equality

Before The Cereal Bowl first opened its doors less than 5 year ago,
the thought of a Starbucks-like café centered on breakfast cereal was as bizarre as it was tantalizing. Founders Michael Glassman and Kenneth and Josh Rader knew that, though it was a risky investment, they had a gem in their hands. Today, The Cereal Bowl has become a staple to the community, lured in by its comfy couches, TV screens, wireless internet and, of course, its signature cereal bar. Customers can mix and match from 35 choices of cereal and
60 different toppings, creating their own unique spin on the “comfort food.”

It is precisely this idea of comfort and individuality that first attracted The Cereal Bowl to SAVE Dade. The company took initiative to reach out and partner with SAVE Dade and the YES Institute based on their missions of equality. The company’s prospect is to extend a hand to its diverse clientele base and invite them to enjoy the comfort of cereal in an environment where they can be comfortable with whom they are.

The Cereal Bowl has offered to host fundraisers for SAVE Dade and are currently working on opening the café for quarterly SAVE Dade meetings. A gift card program, where part of the proceeds goes to SAVE Dade, is also in the works. It is a prime example of for-profit and nonprofit collaboration that affects a company’s bottom line and advances an organization’s mission and vision. When asked why Michael had selected SAVE Dade as a partner he responded, “It just makes good business sense”. SAVE Dade salutes The Cereal Bowl for their courage in recognizing equality as a value they can support while maintaining a powerful brand.

SAVE Dade is continuously looking for ways to sustain itself through unique partnerships with for-profit companies. If you are interested in aligning your company with the mission of SAVE Dade, please contact CJ Ortuno at 305-751-7283 or email him at cj@savedade.org.
