SAVE AND THE NATIONAL GAY AND LESBIAN TASK FORCE PARTNER TO HOST LEADERSHIP ACADEMY, WITH OTHER LOCAL ORGANIZATIONS
Targeting Miami for Intense Volunteer Leadership Training, The National Gay and Lesbian Task Force Partners With SAVE To Defeat Amendment 2, With the Participation of Florida Red & Blue and Fairness For All Families
 Dear SAVE Members and Supporters,
Florida voters are less than 4 months away from voting on Amendment 2! This means the LGBT community may face by the end of the year:
- A permanent ban on same-sex marriage;
- A repeal of current civil unions and domestic partnerships and a ban on future ones;
- Denied access to family health insurance and hospital visitation rights;
- Second-class citizenship of all unmarried couples, gay or straight; and
- Institutional discrimination written into the fabric of Florida's own State Constitution.
To defeat this, we must educate thousands of Floridians about Amendment 2's harms and urge them to vote "No" this fall. It will take a team of hundreds of fair-minded Floridians volunteering together to win.
In response, we will be hosting a series of 1-day intensive campaign trainings in Miami this weekend, Saturday, July 26 and Sunday, July 27. This Academy for Leadership and Action will be nothing less than a premier leadership and skills development academy for the lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender rights movement - in our own backyard!

Play a critical leadership role in the fight against Amendment 2 by learning how to recruit a team of volunteers, talk to voters and coordinate large-scale actions to educate Floridians to vote no. Participants must commit to putting this training to use to defeat Amendment 2.

Safeguarding American Values for Everyone (SAVE) advocates for equal rights for all people regardless of their sexual orientation, and educates the community about human rights with emphasis on issues affecting the lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender (LGBT) community. Established in 1993, SAVE accomplishes this mission through education, grassroots organizing, community mobilization and advocacy.
