IT IS OFFICIAL, DISCRIMINATION AGAINST GLBT AND STRAIGHT UNMARRIED COUPLES WILL BE UP FOR A VOTE THIS NOVEMBER IN FLORIDA!
The State Department of Elections has confirmed that the anti-gay ballot measure a.k.a. the marriage protection amendment WILL be on the 2008 ballot. Floridians will have the chance to vote on whether to engrave discrimination in the Constitution of the Sunshine State at the same time that they will vote for our next President.
Many of you have helped SAVE already with your generous contributions and with your time and commitment as volunteers. We met many of you recently at the diverse community events and election precincts where SAVE volunteers have been talking to voters about this dangerous amendment. You might be one of the veterans in the fight for equality and worked with SAVE in passing and defending the Human Rights Ordinance in Miami-Dade County and most recently in adding transgender protections to the City of Miami Citizens Bill of Rights that was overwhelmingly approved by the voters. OUR COMMUNITY NEEDS YOU ALL !
As the grassroots arm of the statewide bipartisan coalition created to defeat this amendment, SAVE has a crucial role in the most populous and progressive part of the state - South Florida. SAVE NEEDS YOUR HELP to mobilize the hundreds of thousands of supportive and undecided voters we need to defeat this amendment in November. Please sign up to volunteer for SAVE at www.SAVEDade.org. Your monetary contribution will also help us run a strong field campaign in South Florida. If defeating this amendment is a priority to you, please donate and donate generously at www.SAVEDade.org
Thank you for being part of the SAVE's past successes and for your participation in the building of our biggest victory yet this November!
